Lacey’s Story…
Covering up pain is easy. It’s keeping it tucked away that’s hard. I’ve always needed the cover of tattoos to hide the nasty past that leached its way into me, tainting me beneath my skin. Not the shiny, trendy tats, but the ugly broken kind, meant to keep the world at bay. If they weren’t enough, then my piercings, foul mouth and crazy hair usually did the trick. Life had taught me to never follow the rules, because when you do, you get burned.

That philosophy served its purpose, until I met someone who turned my life upside down. Milly, the little hoochie, stormed into my life and changed everything with her undying faith in me, her love and her shitty coffee concoctions. I found a family in Milly, and her sexy farm boy, Cree. She accepted me without hesitation, and never ran from the dark and dangerous secrets that I harbored. My new family loved me unconditionally, with their showers of sprinkles and impromptu dance parties.

My life was perfectly imperfect until Tripp and his crazy-ass ideas of princesses. Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp, fresh out of rehab, moved in with Milly and Cree to try and make a new life for himself. Tripp, the sexy as hell, charismatic beast, soon became one of my best friends. We shared our love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could only lead to a beautiful train wreck. The only question left is, will we set the countryside ablaze with our hot tempers and foul mouths, or will we paint our own happy ending filled with all the gushy shit normal people crave?

Kay's Review
What happens when two broken people collide? A beautifully messy crash.
Lacey is foul-mouthed with an I-don't-care attitude. Her body is covered in tattoos and her hair colours cover the spectrum of rainbow. However, it is easy to see from the first few pages of this story that beneath the brash exterior is a very damaged girl.

In walks Tripp with his own very dirty baggage. He is a substance abuser fresh out of rehab. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that despite the chemistry between these two sizzling, there was a disaster waiting to happen. And of course all it took was one little incident to be blown out of proportion by jealousy and disaster happens.

What I enjoyed about this book is the characterisation. The author obviously understood these people and wrote them well. The secondary characters have their moments to shine and the bonds between the Lacey and Milly helps to provide a foundation for the other relationships.
I love that Tripp saw through Lacey's exterior right from the start and that he never stopped loving her.

What I didn't enjoy was the over-dramatisation of every single problem. It made the characters appear juvenile sometimes. An example is Tripp reading the letter from his father while he's in hospital waiting to hear news about his wife and baby. I mean, seriously, who does that? "Hang on, while my wife and unborn child are fighting for their lives on an operating table, I'm just going to take out a letter from my dead father I have in my pocket and read it." Really?

All-in-all, I enjoyed this book. If you're looking for a sweet romance, this isn't it. The subject-matter is uncomfortable sometimes, the language is coarse and the sex scenes are explicit. Oh, and there are illegal drugs involved too.
Would I recommend this? Yes.
